What have I been doing in recent days
Tuesday, July 31, 2001
The sermon went well on Sunday. In the arvo I hung out at a local park with a heap of friends. On Monday night I went back to home group and we after playing a game talked about chapter 4 of Romans.

Late last night I stayed up and wrote a proposal for developing the Christian Surfers ministry in Puerto Escocndido, Mexico. I have been going to do this since I arrived back in Australia 7 weeks ago but only yesterday found the time to finish it. I had a bit of a sleep in today then and then worked on some college homework and getting some ideas together for the sermon tomorrow at my local church Perth Baptist. I will be talking about my time away as under the topic of "What on earth are you doing?" This will include a challenge to live right lives.

Today at college nothing happened. We had a day off so I spent it doing to catch-up (on sleep!). I had planned to do some assignments but this got delayed with a few web site issues. Tonight though was heaps fun and good. I went again to talk about my time in Mexico and how I got involved in missions. Those that came were challenged and hopefully will get more involved and maybe become overseas cross-cultural workers.

The usual dramas with computers have been happening over the past few weeks so I had to reinstall all my stuff. I thought I had backed it ALL up but missed a couple of items that make work faster. Oh well, I'll make sure I back it all up next time.
I have got my www.churchesnet.net site active in the last day or so, so am very pleased. It has taken about a year to get the idea into a functional reality. I turst that it serves the purposes well.
College wise: things are coming along ok. I have started a bit of work but know that more needs to be done, and at a faster pace if I am to finish this year. This is what needs to be done so I'll be knuckling down even more.

After 5 weeks of being back at college I have properly started doing some work. We didn't have any classes today so I had the time and used it to catch up on Church Growth homework (for the Principal). I also at times took a break from the study and helped in the kitchen. I will be there for the next 4 weeks as part of my daily prac duties. At night I went to another youth meeting and talked about Mexico, Worldview and why I am in missions. They were responsive again.
(Last Monday might the youth leader was present and he didn't even know the names os the Churches missionaries. I hope he does now!)
Half way throught the talk one of the guys got up and ran around the room once. He was pretending to be a chicken. No one present (bar him) knew what the antic was all about. Interesting but didn't through me: too much.

The past few days have been OK! Yesterday was a great day with many showing for the Open day here at Worldview. I knocked up and then presented a drama in the arvo to the whole group then work in one of the smaller locations doing a presentation about youth.
Today and over the past few days I have been helping out my travel agent friend by building him a web site. The new company that he runs from Toowoomba is called Christian Travel Services and is focusing on helping missionaries and chirstians get overseas for cheap.
The week ahead will be flat out as I need to get caught up on many hours that I have been lagging behind on. I also need to write a sermon for Perth Baptist this Sunday. I think I'll do something that incorporates my time away in Mexico. Hasta manana!

Not the busiest of days. Built a two web sites this arvo and am now waiting for the content. Headed off for another swim at a local indoor heated pool after dinner. Showed a few kids how to do the great Aussie bomb dive. Think I should do some college work - or have a sleep?

Life is getting busier. I hadn't realised what I had to do for college but after being back a month I have understood the work requirements. I am needing to start soon but do have a few other projects to contend with. This weekend we have the annual college open day and us 3rd year students will be performing a few different segments.
I went to town to see a technology expo but as per the usual Tassie fashion it was less than ordinary. All they had was stuff about accessibility: especially for the oldies! On the way home a good friend from Brisbane rang and I caught up on some news. For the rest of this evening I have been fixing a few computers - and mine needs some work too!

Today we had another class of world religions and it was very interesting (and funny) as the guy shared about Hinduism and the Karma etc. In ther arvo I helped my flat mate with a lift to town to buy a plan ticket. At night I went with the local Tassie WEC directors to a youth Bible study where I shared about my time in Mexico. It was a good day and my cold is all but gone. (Like the pun!)

I got to bed at midnight and woke up at 9.01 when I was supposed to be arrivning at vege prep duties. Next week we change duties so I will be doing both the lunch and dinner washups. I spent the morning (researching!) on the internet. In the arvo after a great lunch I went to see a friend get married at Launceston Church of Christ. After I came home I had a sleep to catch on the past few long nights. I slept for a few hours then got into the study I had planned to do all day. Tomorrow I'll be helping at Perth Baptist Church and run the data projector. In the arvo I'll upload a few web sites and then head off to church in town.

I have nearly gotten rid of my very annoying cold. It has been hanging around for the past week or more and my body has been fighting it but finally won the battle. Classes are OK but we have missed a few since one lecturer works shift work for the City Mission but he'll be back next week. I finished off last week a few web sites so check them out at: PEMexico.com. These were for my placement when I was living at El Refugio in Puerto Escondido.

The adjustment in the climate from Mexico to Tassie has meant that I have developed a cold. It has been affecting me for the past few days and at night it is the worst. I am taking some health tablets and trust that it will clear up soon.

The past two weeks has been good at college. I went to Perth Baptist on Sunday morning and then off to Church of Christ at night. Then after coming home I stayed up to watch Queensland beat New South Wales in the Rugby League State of Origin. The game didn't finish here until 3.30am but it was worth watching NSW get thrashed. On Monday evening I went to a local youth meeting where I had heaps of good contact and shared with them about the many great experiences of Mexcio.
