I am back
I have been around for the past 6 months but haven't published to this journal all that time. I am starting today and will try and write every few days.
I have been away last week in Sydney at the Hillsong conference and it was good. Vanessa stayed home to continue working at the hospital while I went to be taught and learn new ways of succedding in ministry. Not sure if I'll go again - but it was good.
The past few weeks I have not been doing much carpentry for a few reasons but I am going to a job interview this Friday. The position is at the church (DVBC) and is a maintainance roll. As it is only meant to be for 3 days each week, I will have some time to get into ministry re missions.

We are having a nice time on holidays. The break is doing us both great. We will both be back at our respective jobs on Thursday the 2nd.

The carpentry work has been a bit slow of late due to weather, sickness and waiting for other trades to complete their jobs. I am utilising the time by working extra hours at Bunnings and fixing/updating web sites.
Vanessa is on UNI prac for the next 6 weeks. She is loving what they do as an OT and the people she works with are great too.

Last night I went to work at Bunnings and a customer whom I served the previous week rang up and told me of a friend who was a builder and that they were looking for more carpenters. I gave the guy a ring as soon as I came home - and a got a job that starts tomorrow. It is not the best pay but should do for the time being. Thank-you God for again suppling our needs.

Since I last wrote (which was a long time ago), I have finished the house I was working on, work part-time at Bunnings in a nearby suburb some nights... and got married to Vanessa. We had a great courtship, marriage and honeymoon in Perth. After three weeks holiday I am now looking for fulltime work again but am not sure what God has planned.

My work as a carpenter has been keeping me very very busy. I am enjoying it but it does get tiring. I will also have a part time job at a hardware store starting soon.

Happy Easter to you all!!
I have completed a full week of work on a building site and I am expecting to be with this same guy for a bit longer yet. The work environment is not stressful and still gives me scope to be a tradesman. God has blessed me with this job. Will be having a quite easter weekend with Vanessa. We picked up the engagment and wedding rings yesterday and are VERY happy with how they came out. Also went to a BIG easter concert at a friends church last night. Quite a good show.

For the past few days I have been working on building sites. I now have a stable job that will keep me employed for a few more weeks. I really like the work and the guys I am working with.

I have completed a two night course so that I can become a member of Diamond Valley Baptist. It was interesting to see and learn where the church is heading and wanting to grow.

Will be going for a job interview with the local Bunnings hardware store this Wednesday arvo. A friend from church works there so he has helped me get in the door. If I get the job, I'll be working in the timber yard, starting at 25hours a week. Another carpenter guy from church last night said he too would give me two days work later in the week. GREAT!!

Today is a holiday so I am trying to rest. Last night I worked the slide show at church so that people could read and then sing the various songs. It went pretty good. I am not sure if I am to be working this week coming. I hope to be notified later in the day.

The week just gone has been SO busy. I got a carpentry job last Saturday and so work 7am til 3pm or 4pm for 5 days. It was hard outside work all day marking out and then building frames. The guys I worked with were interesting to work with - especially considering I have not done this type of work full time for about 6 years. I am still to be informed as to whether I will work with them in weeks to come.
I have also just moved into a unit in a suburb near Vanessa's uni. It is a nice (about 5 years old) two bedroom lowset brick unit. We moved the stuff in mid week and now it is mostly setup - only a few more boxes to unpack.
We have been really lessed by God since we have arrived in Melbourne. The lady next door to the unit where I am living has sold us a few house hold items way below the normal price. All the things we asked specifically for God has provided. RAD!!
Vanessa stayed this past week at a friends and today moved her to another new home where she will board until we get married in a few months.
We are both feeling a bit drained but will hopefully recover with a few early nights and the eating of better diets. We will also now try and get into a better routine now that uni has started and I have a job. We are both involved in the youth ministry at church.

Monday and Tuesday had me working VERY hard making a double bed that is at the height of a bunk bed. It was for the people I am living with as a way to pay for my expenses instead of board. The bed came up good and I might even make one for myself before too long.
I will be trying to get a job this coming week if not before. There are jobs going at Bunnings Hardware, a private school as an RE/CE teacher and some sports assistant at another school. There seems to be plenty of building work too so I'll be keeping my eye out. I'll be keen to get a house some time soon as I need to be out of here by Wednesday next week at the very latest.

Over the past few days I have been working on some web sites. My sister Roslyn arrives later today and will be here helping us (mainly Vanessa) to get things organised for the wedding. Next week I'll be taking some time out to build a bed as a way to pay for my board for where I am living. Tonight I went to the church to learn how they run the multi-media for the songs etc as I will help out with this at least once a month. I have also gotten involved with the youth and have committed to attending every Friday night to help with the activities nights. Things are going good. Vanessa is a bit stressed but I hope once more things get organised she will settle down again. I love her so much and want the best for her always.

Well apart from getting engaged on Thursday the rest of the week has been busy too. Went to church this morning and heard one of the Aussie ladies who was a prisioner in Afghanistan late last year. Her story was inspiring.

Today has been busy. I went to the shops and spent the rest of the day working on this web site and also writing a long overdue prayer letter. I have meeting with a youth worker and then a combined church prayer meeting. The site has been re-uploaded and so new photos are now visible.

The camp was good. It was run by Wycliffe so was promoting youth to get involved in missions and live and life loving and serving God. I met many nice people and so am enjoying the move here so far.

I have arrived (safely) in Melbourne and am now living at the WEC house/office at Mt Waverley. I am off to a camp with the youth from Vanessa's church and will be back in the office next Monday.

I have a house for the first few days in Melbourne after I arrive - WEC office.
We are doing some packing today but hopefully won't need to take a trailer anymore. I have heaps of stuff so need to sort it today.
We have had a great time visiting friends. Vanessa and I are off to the drive-ins to see Oceans 11 tonight. It will be her first time at such a venue.
