'One day a farmer in India brought a covey of quail to sell at the market. Each bird had a string tied to one leg with the other end tied to a stick. He had taught them to walk in circles around the stick, hour after hour, day after day. Nobody seemed too interested until one day a man came along, bought them and told the farmer to set them free. "What's that?" The farmer asked. "You heard me, turn them loose", he said. With a shrug the farmer snipped the strings and set all the birds free. What happened? Nothing!
They just kept going in circles. When he tried to shoo them into the air, they just landed a few yards away and resumed their march - free on the outside, but imprisoned on the inside. What a picture.'
